In some countries, you honk the car on arrival to let your people know you have arrived. 

In Canada, honking is bad manner.

You honk at someone when you are angry, like when they do something bad during driving, like when they make a lane change without signalling, or when they are very aggressive when driving, trying to get ahead of you.

So do not honk because you feel like it.

totally agree! Since it takes a while for newcomers to land a full-time job, they often rely on public transit to get around.
